Purpose of the Part

The manifold takes the pressurized air coming off the turbo and charge cooler and spreads it evenly to all the cylinders. The intake air heater in it warms that air on a cold start so the engine lights off easier and runs cleaner until it warms up. A cracked manifold or a bad gasket leaks boost, which costs power and can set charge air faults.

Boost leaks, low power, a whistle under boost, charge air or intake temperature faults, and hard cold starting if the heater has failed. Cracks in the housing and leaking gasket surfaces are the common reasons to replace it.
