Purpose of the Part

A PTO takes power off the transmission to run equipment the truck carries, like a hydraulic pump, blower or dump hoist. The PTO not engaging or slipping under load, output not turning, oil leaking at the mount or the shift cover, noise or chatter when engaged, and clutch not releasing. A slipping clutch pack that will not carry the load is the common wear out.

Before replacing it, check the air or hydraulic engagement, the solenoid and the wiring, and the transmission oil level, since a weak engagement signal or low oil makes a good PTO slip.
