Description

Wabco 4005004200 Trailer ABS Module - Genuine WABCO iABS 2S/2M, 4S/2M Trailer Control Module Valve Assembly

The Wabco 4005004200 is a genuine WABCO trailer ABS control module, the combined ECU and modulator valve in one assembly. It reads the wheel speed sensors and controls the brake pressure to prevent wheel lockup on the trailer. Configurable for 2S/2M or 4S/2M setups (2 or 4 sensors, 2 modulators).

Key Functions:

- Combined ABS ECU and modulator valve in one unit
- Reads wheel speed sensors and modulates brake pressure to stop lockup
- Configurable 2S/2M or 4S/2M

Fitment & Specifications:

- WABCO iABS trailer systems
- 2S/2M or 4S/2M configuration

Purpose of the Part

This is the brain and the valve of the trailer ABS in one unit. It watches the wheel speed sensors, and if a wheel starts to lock during braking it modulates the air pressure to that wheel to keep it turning. It also runs the ABS self check and lights the trailer ABS lamp when there is a fault.

Issue Symptoms / When to Replace

Trailer ABS warning lamp on, ABS faults on a diagnostic tool, no communication with the module, and air leaks at the valve. A module that has lost function usually defaults to normal braking without ABS, which still stops the trailer but fails inspection and loses the anti-lock protection.

Brand Information

WABCO, now part of ZF, is one of the original heavy truck brake system manufacturers and iABS is their trailer system. On a brake control that has to modulate correctly to prevent lockup, the genuine unit is built and tested to that standard. It is not a place to trust an unbranded copy on a safety system that also has to pass inspection.

Installation Notes

The module has to be configured for the correct sensor and modulator setup (2S/2M or 4S/2M) with WABCO TOOLBOX software, and the config must match the trailer's plumbing and sensors. Label the air ports as you remove the old one so they go back correctly, use new seals, and after install run the diagnostic to clear codes and confirm the ABS lamp cycles and goes out.

How to Identify an OEM Part

A genuine unit has WABCO molded into the cover and cast into the valve body, with the WABCO part number label. Check the number matches your order and compare the port layout and connectors to the module coming off. Some sellers list WABCO branded modules as aftermarket, so confirm you are getting genuine.
