Description

Freightliner A06-75982-004 SAM Chassis Module - Genuine Freightliner for Cascadia

The Freightliner A06-75982-004 is a genuine SAM Chassis module for the Cascadia. It mounts at the cab and passes through the firewall, working as a power distribution module for the chassis side. It runs exterior lighting, solenoids and differential locks, and talks to the other modules over the CAN bus. 12 volt, baseline configuration.

Key Functions:

- Power distribution for chassis electrical
- Controls exterior lighting, solenoids and diff locks
- Communicates with other modules over the CAN bus

Fitment & Specifications:

- Freightliner Cascadia
- 12 volt, baseline, P3

Has to be reprogrammed to the truck. Verify fitment with us before ordering to ensure the correct part for your application.

Purpose of the Part

The SAM Chassis takes the place of a bank of relays and fuses. Instead of a wire running from every switch to every device, the switch tells the module and the module powers the circuit through logic controlled relays and FETs, with fusing and over current monitoring built in. That is why one bad module can knock out several unrelated things at once.

Issue Symptoms / When to Replace

Water intrusion and corrosion is what kills these. The unit sits partly outside the cab, so water gets in if the outer cover is not sealed right, or from inside the cab through bad wire routing or a missing drip shield.

Symptoms are exterior lights out, marker or turn signals dead, diff lock or solenoid faults, no communication with the SAM, and several unrelated electrical problems showing up together.

Before replacing it, check the connectors for corrosion, check that the outer cover is sealed, and check battery voltage and grounds. A wet connector reads the same as a failed module.

Brand Information

Freightliner is part of Daimler Truck North America, so the module, the programming files and DiagnosticLink all come from the same source. Programming is released against the truck, which keeps a genuine module serviceable at any dealer.

Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the batteries.
2. Pull the driver side step plate and kick panel to get at the inside connections.
3. Disconnect the interior wiring and grounds, then the outside cables.
4. On manual transmission trucks the clutch master cylinder may need to be moved for clearance.
5. Remove the three mounting nuts and pull the unit out.
6. Transfer any fuses and relays over to the new module.
7. Dielectric grease on the connectors, make sure the outer cover seals, and fix any interior leaks or wire routing letting water reach it.
8. Reprogram with ServiceLink or DiagnosticLink to match the truck's configuration before it will work.

How to Identify an OEM Part

Check the factory label for the Freightliner part number format along with the hardware version and barcode. Make sure it matches your order and that the label is the original, not printed over another one.
