Description

John Deere DZ126593 Turbocharger - Genuine John Deere VGT Turbo for 6M and 6R Series

The John Deere DZ126593 is a genuine variable geometry turbocharger for the 6068 PowerTech FT4 engine. It has a titanium compressor wheel for quick response and an electric actuator that moves the vanes to control boost. Fits 6M and 6R series tractors.

Key Functions:

- Variable vanes control boost across the rpm range
- Electric actuator sets vane position off the engine controls
- Titanium compressor wheel for faster response and less lag

Fitment & Specifications:

- John Deere 6068 PowerTech FT4
- 6M series: 6155M, 6175M, 6195M
- 6R series: 6145R, 6155R, 6175R, 6195R, 6215R and 6R 145 through 6R 215

Purpose of the Part

The turbo uses exhaust to drive the compressor and push more air into the engine. The variable vanes are what make it flexible. Closing them speeds the exhaust gas up and builds boost quickly at low rpm, opening them keeps boost in check up top. The actuator moves the vanes to whatever the engine controls call for. The titanium wheel is lighter than a standard one, so it spins up faster and cuts lag.

Issue Symptoms / When to Replace

Low power and low boost, black smoke, turbo lag, a whine or siren that changes with rpm, oil in the intake or exhaust, and actuator or boost faults.

The vanes are the usual trouble spot. Soot builds up and they stick, so boost will not come up and the actuator sets faults trying to reach a position it cannot. Check that the vanes move before condemning anything. Everything else comes back to oil or debris, a starved oil supply wipes the bearings and dirt through the intake destroys the wheel.

Brand Information

John Deere matches this turbo to the 6068 PowerTech FT4, including the vane sizing and actuator calibration the engine controls expect. The titanium wheel is part of that spec, not an upgrade you add on. A turbo that flows or responds differently will bolt up and still leave the tractor down on power or setting boost faults.

Installation Notes

1. Find out why the old turbo failed, oil starvation, stuck vanes or debris will take the new one out the same way.
2. Check the intake and charge piping for debris before fitting it.
3. Check the oil supply and drain lines for restriction or sludge.
4. Change the engine oil and filter.
5. Mount it with new gaskets and torque to spec.
6. Prime the cartridge with clean oil at the inlet before connecting the supply line.
7. Do not touch the actuator or vanes to reposition them by hand.
8. Crank with fuel off until oil pressure builds, then idle a few minutes before loading and check for leaks.

How to Identify an OEM Part

A genuine unit has the John Deere leaping deer logo cast into the compressor housing, not printed or stickered, along with the part number tag. The electric actuator is a BorgWarner unit and the castings and machining look clean and even. Check the tag against your order and compare the housings, the actuator and the flange positions to the turbo coming off. Copies usually leave the deer logo off or cast it rough, and the actuator or ports sit slightly different.
