Description

Paccar Q30-6013-0000 Shift Control - Genuine Paccar Column Stalk Shifter for Kenworth and Peterbilt

The Paccar Q30-6013-0000 is a genuine column mounted stalk shifter for the automated transmission. It is the lever the driver uses to select drive, neutral and reverse, and it also controls the engine brake and low range from the same stalk. It sends those selections to the transmission control over the data bus. Fits Kenworth and Peterbilt.

Key Functions:

- Selects drive, neutral and reverse
- Controls engine brake (Off to Max) and low range
- Sends selections to the transmission control over the data bus

Fitment & Specifications:

- Kenworth and Peterbilt with automated transmission
- Column mounted stalk, 4 position with engine brake

Verify fitment with us before ordering to ensure the correct part for your application.

Purpose of the Part

There is no mechanical link to the transmission on an automated box. The stalk reads the driver's selection and sends it as a signal, and the transmission control does the shifting. It combines the gear selection and the engine brake control into one column lever, so it is the main driver interface for the powertrain. If it fails the truck can be stuck in neutral or refuse to shift.

Issue Symptoms / When to Replace

No response when selecting a gear, stuck in neutral, the display reading the wrong gear, the engine brake not working off the stalk, and intermittent shifting or transmission communication faults.

Check the connector and harness first, since a loose or corroded plug reads the same as a failed shifter.

Brand Information

PACCAR is the parent of Kenworth and Peterbilt and builds these controls to work with its own transmission and dash software. The shifter is matched to that system, so a genuine unit configures and communicates correctly. Copies may plug in and still fail to register gears or throw faults because they do not match what the truck expects.

Installation Notes

Disconnect the batteries before unplugging it. Check the connector for corrosion or bent pins, plug the new stalk in and make sure it locks. Some applications need the shifter configured to the truck with the manufacturer software, so check whether yours does before returning it to service, then cycle the key and confirm all positions register before driving.

How to Identify an OEM Part

A genuine unit has the PACCAR label on the body with the part number and a data matrix code. Check the number matches your order and compare the connector, the stalk markings and the mounting bracket to the one coming off. Copies usually have a different label and different switch feel.
